Vamos hombre, que ya somos mayorcitos. ¿Pero lo somos todos?

355mag.com: 7/10 It's been a while since we've heard any new stuff by Mason, but now the Dutch DJ/producer returns with a new cut on German Great Stuff. Could it be the next hit single of the talented youngster? Let's find out...Mason's tunes often are remarked by a commercial, somewhat traditional sound and build-up. The original version of The Ridge opens up quite differently. There's this combination between synths and basses that make up an entrancing start, after which the track turns into a high class electrohouse tune with fat kicks, buzzing basses and a wide array of synthesizers. The effecting deserves special attention: although it's not that groundbreaking, Mason uses his skills to create solid breakdowns in which the track re-energizes only to kick back in again in full effect. The track's theme is quite simple, a simple melody line, but the supporting synths create a well cool vibe. The 'big' breakdown in the middle of the track takes the track to new heights, with the climax being an overwhelming explosion of synths, melodramatic strings and deep kicks. It still has this commercial vibe, but the overall is just a real good piece of electrohouse music.

The first remix comes from Oliver Klein and Peter Juergens and opens with a more tribal-inspired sequence. The track slowly builds up to a solid tech-house groove, including a well used piano sample. The rhythm is simple yet funky and the use of many delayed sounds and tiny little snippets from the original make it an uptempo rocker for good old fashioned sneaker shuffling. The main theme fro the original is cut out and replaced on the tribal beat manifesto, by which the track results in a smooth balearic floor-filler. Ace!

One can count on Tomcraft to give a tune that extra bit of dirt, and he does do again on his remix of The Ridge. Tomcraft spices up the tune with loud kicks, some cool techy percussion and intense deep bass-lines that give the track a real dark atmosphere, yet at the same time full of energy. The sequence is a must-hear, full of cool breaks, raw elements and punk beats, slowly building up towards its first big breakdown. The main synth theme is used again, providing a bit of light in the darkness, only to disappear right away in the climax. What follows is a great use of electro-synths over Tomcraft's psycho techno rhythm, creating a first class stomper to blow any dance-floor away with. Definitely the best track of this release, a real heavy weight monster!

After a few not-so-impressive releases, Mason returns with a proper power package including two top notch remixes. Those who are into more commercial sounding tech-house and electrohouse should definitely consider buying this one!

It will determine your memory to summer 2008 even in 20 years just like Stardust, Alan Braxe, Cassius….. With a track that can’t be bigger”), expectations are off course huge...! And indeed the track is great, a sort of big room anthem with a superb melancholic melody which sticks in your mind, but to say that it changes my life, that’s ‘a bit’ exagerated J. It has the same qualities of the fantastic productions from Guy Gerber, but then with a slightly more clubby feeling. Very recognisible which can make it into a big room anthem. The Tomcraft remix will work in a more techno orientated set, and the Klein & Jürgens Rmx is perfectly suited for my more Mnml House orientated sets!

Dimitri Kechagias (Danceradioo.gr): This is an absolute bomb. This is an absolute big groovy anthem that works amazingly well on the floor. This is the best tomcraft mix for ages. The original of course has that melody that stucks in your mind forever.

Kenneth Thomas: Nice package. Digging the grooving melodic feel of the original. Will fit nicely into certain sets. The Klein & Jurgens remix has a nice early feel, really digging the use of the lead in that version. And the Tomcraft mix seems to take it to a whole new level, very nice bass & perc there, nice chunky version.
